i purchased a boat with a 300 pm on it. they took off the fuel pump that was bolted on to the powerhead. took off the prime bulb also. then added eletric inline fuel pump.boat is bad on gas. whats the best way to fix this problem?if i buy the pump(high pressure pump)and mount it back to the block will it help my fuel economy?
thanks for any help

The pump will help it be reliable ,but will not help economy, you have to run premium fuel in that motor,I had one,the 300pm and 300x used a lot of fuel.they also like tall props, especially a light boat say a 21 foot.

That's a thirsty engine, but make sure the TPS is not set above spec or it's going to run richer. Also check the other sensors for being in spec.

You can replace everything to OEM specs, but the bottom line is "NO", it will not help your fuel economy. If they removed the pump that was on the block than its a low pressure pulse pump, the high pressure pump resides inside the VST. I believe the electric pump they added is used as a suck/push pump to supply fuel to the VST H/Press pump. I'd leave it as is.

Boating and Economy do not relate very well.
HP requires fuel, figure 10% HP/hr
300HP/30gph
If you want economy, do not open the throttle.
