I'm trying to remove a Teleflex Rack and Pinion Dual Cable steering system - I'd be good to go if it weren't for the damn steering wheel hub.
What's the trick to remove this?
See pics to get an idea of what I'm trying to do...

Put the steering wheel back on. Put the nut over the shaft and your knees behind the wheel. Push out with your knees and pound the shaft with a hammer. It will shock it off. I had one that I had to drill around the hub to get off. A puller might work too. Good luck.

Thanks! I got it.
Holly crap, that was on tight.
I thought I might have been missing some kindof of releasing trick.

Fly is kind of right. It really takes 2 people. Put the wheel back on. Put the nut back on a few threads past the end of the shaft. Knees on the bottom hands on top. The second person with a brass drift punch and hammer hits the shaft with a sharp blow. The brass drift won't hurt the theads.

....try the right tool for the job. Most Autozone stores, and PEP Boys, have tools available for borrowing. Go borrow a steering wheel puller. They have a bracket that bolts to the hub, and a center bolt (pusher or ram) that is tapered to a point so it stays centered. Once you have it bolted to the hub, you tighten the center bolt, and it pushes the steering shaft right out of the hub with no damage. They other way will work, but it's kind of caveman style. :D
